The 'Dogs' are in a constant process of trying to bring to the band the most authentic and varied Blues repertoire possible. We play this music because this is who we are, and this is what we want to hear. Since our debut at the ID4 in 2001, and the subsequent circuit of club gigs around town the 'Dogs' have developed a sizable and fiercely loyal following. It is as much for ourselves as it is for them that we are continually trying to evolve the choice of songs, as well as the way we interpret them.
You may hear a song title you recognize only to notice that it is completely different from how you remember the original version. We are working to bring a small piece of ourselves to most of the songs we play in such a way as not to detract from the original done by one of the all time greats, but at the same time bring it more into the 'Dogs' style.
Below is a list of mentions and reviews to date. Due to the limitations of space we have included only a couple of excerpts, although the full version of all is available on the web and the links are provided. Once again, thanks to all of you for helping us this far, stick around, you won't be disappointed.
Excerpts:
"The Soi Dog Blues Band ain't pretty and they ain't quiet and they don't play no bluegrass neither! But if it's energetic versions of 'Hey Joe' and 'Blues with a Feelin' or 'Messin' with the Kid' you want, they got your number from 9 o'clock Saturdays onward.
The joint was about full when we called by and the 'Dogs' were in full swing! Which reminds me. The other best kept secret in town, is that bandleader Jeff is probably the best blues singer in town, and while he plays a mean blues lick on guitar ain't nobody else in this town sings like blues master John Lee Hooker. But Jeff do!
And since John Lee hisself passed on recently, that's as good a reason as any to check this tight blues unit out over at Bourbon St., and pig out on some real crawfish and gumbo while youse at it. You has to feed the blues."

"The Soi Dogs hit the stage with a whimper, but soon got into howling. They are actually very good, much better than I expected, I would like to see them in a packed cellar bar howling their way into the hearts and minds of an enthusiastic audience. They would go down a storm in the Tilos A in Budapest!"

"These guys are THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS of the Blues.....!"
- Archie SRV Hall, December 01, 2001 -
"Meantime go hear Jeff and his boys resurrect John Lee Hooker and LG smokin' his
axe-of-the-day with his King Dynasty and righteous Bloomfield licks."
-Doctor Blues, Guide of Bangkok
"Also on a Saturday, catch the latest line-up of the legendary Soi Dog Blues Band live at the Living Room at Clinton Plaza from 9 pm, featuring the pride of Japan 'Sabai Sabai' Sawai San on no messin', burnin' blues axe and The Mighty Jeff on moonrock-grinding vocals. John Lee Hooker (God rest his recently delivered soul) may be dead, but he was kind enough to leave his perfect blues voice behind! And Jeff did the deal with the Devil first!
Meantime the other Soi Dogs 'Tone Zone" Tony on bass and 'Timely' Thot on drums, carry the two guitarists in this tight outfit, and together make up the tightest blues rhythm section currently on Planet Blues.
Call the Living Room's Graham for reservations to see the Dogs doin' it off the street!!!!"
-News from Doc Blues,
"The Soi Dogs were packing them in at the Living Room (Clinton Plaza, Sukhumvit Road) There has been a personnel change with the two Americans going their separate ways. However, Jeff was in fine form and the Dogs howled out of their set with the raw brutality of hounds approaching the kill."

"I caught the Soi Dogs at Saxophone the other Friday. Garn, a tiny Thai girl who sang, played bongos and harps with the Bangkok Blues Band, joined the line up in the second set. And she was superb. Billy Holliday sprang to mind. Congratulations to Jeff for taking a talent and developing it."
